Kerry singing Someone Else's Story in 'Chess'
May 13, 2008
This was personally what I was looking forward to hearing/seeing the most from the Chess performances - Kerry singing the beautiful song 'Someone Else's Story', one of my personal favourites. And may I just mention that she did a phenomenal job <3 Simply amazing! Check it out...
Oh, and apparently the shows are being recorded and is meant to be released on DVD in December!
Tonight the first concert performance of Chess is taking place, the second one is tomorrow night. And the lucky ones who are going, it would be brilliant if you could email me any info, reviews or anything else you think is interesting :)
Also, I was just reading this interview with Idina and she mentioned Kerry when talking about Chess...
"It's great to work with Kerry Ellis again too and to sing 'I Know Him So Well' with her. Kerry and I have actually never been on stage at the same time before. When I was in the London production of Wicked, she was my understudy - when I was working, she wasn't and when she was working, I wasn't. So we didn't get to spend as much quality time together as I would have liked. It's wonderful now to hear her up close. I have tremendous respect for her and her sound. It's really clear and beautiful, and I love her interpretation and phrasings. It's exciting to share the stage with her in a different light but also to pay homage to the show that we've both come from."
EDIT: I just found a video of Kerry and Idina singing 'I Know Him So Well' from tonight's performance of Chess... They both sound amazing!
I was just randomly reading this article and was surprised to see Kerry's name in it... As you may know, the Broadway musical Spring Awakening is going to be staged in the West End and I also remember something about Kerry liking that musical a lot... And according to that article the auditions are next Thursday and Kerry is auditioning!
I don't know if it's even true, but I thought I'd post it anyway...
Here's a video filmed at Harriet Thorpe's press night as Madame Morrible in Wicked. There are a few short interviews, including Harriet of course, Kerry, Dianne Pilkington, Oliver Tompsett, Nigel Planer and Andy Mace, as well as some other people :) Kerry appears nearly at the end of the video...
